Asia; Central Eastern Europe, Middle East & Africa (CEMA); Latin America; and Western Europe

As it seeks to grow its business internationally, BBCW Worldwide has identified four markets that have high growth potential. These markets are Asia, Central Eastern Europe, Middle East & Africa (CEMA), Latin America and Western Europe and are collectively known within BBC Worldwide as the Global Markets.

Each of these markets operates its own P&L with teams running channels, sales, production and consumer product operations as well as new business opportunities which can deliver new revenue streams and increased profits for BBC Worldwide. They are collectively overseen by President, Global Markets, Paul Dempsey, who also has overall responsibility for major sales markets such as BBC Worldwide Showcase, MIPCOM and MIPTV, as well as global sales intelligence and best practice.

Local sales teams work with broadcasters in market to sell finished programmes from BBC Worldwide's extensive programming catalogue, and increasingly the team work with digital operators.

These markets also showcase the range of BBC-branded channels - BBC Entertainment, BBC Knowledge, BBC Lifestyle, BBC HD, and pre-school brand CBeebies. The channels operation also accounts for the distribution of BBC World News.

Through a series of wholly-owned or joint-ventured companies, BBC Worldwide has a production presence in France and Germany in Western Europe as well as India in the Asian market. These teams produce localised versions of some of the BBC best-known formats such as Dancing with the Stars, The Week the Women Went and Great Bake Off.

Teams also work with partners to bring BBC Worldwide DVDs, magazines, digital apps - including the Global iPlayer - innovative products and live events to each of the local markets.
