United Kingdom

Our UK business identifies and secures commercial opportunities for BBC brands and programmes within the UK to complement transmission on the BBC’s domestic services, extending audiences’ enjoyment of their favourite shows through downloads, websites and apps as well as live events, DVDs, magazines, books and toys and our linear channels joint venture.

Commercial broadcaster UKTV is a joint venture between BBC Studios and Scripps Networks Inc., and features paid and free-to-air TV channels including Dave, Drama, Gold and W. A wealth of BBC programmes are licensed to UKTV for broadcast on its network, including Doctor Who, Gavin and Stacey and EastEnders. The TV Sales team also licenses BBC programmes to other linear and digital broadcasters and platforms in the UK, fulfilling demand for programming after the initial BBC transmission.

The UK’s Live Entertainment business creates immersive experiences for fans from CBeebies Land at Alton Towers to events such as Countryfile Live.

The Radio & Music business exploits core music rights and brands from all genres of BBC TV and all BBC Radio networks, while the wholly-owned Demon Record Group acquires artists' catalogues for commercial exploitation in various consumer and business markets.

BBC Motion Gallery, a joint venture with Getty Images, licenses the use of video clips of BBC programmes, and BBC Worldwide Learning creates English Language teaching materials from BBC content for use outside the UK, including for CBeebies learning centres in Beijing.

Lastly, the business oversees licensing partnerships for our CBeebies titles from Hey Duggee and Go Jetters to long-running favourites Doctor Who and Top Gear.
